As the original author of this slide, I can say that Hansei isn't about regret as a primary, it is about deep and systematic reflection about what we are observing, ensuring that we are focusing on the problems that matter most, and that we have a correct formulation of the actual problem before we turn it into an A3 project to solve it. Hansei is not apart from Kaizen, it functions as the front-end part of it, with A3 being the primary method for problem resolution.

I'd strongly encourage people to look at Cherokee as a viable alternative to Apache, especially for use in VPS environments due to its minimal memory utilization and CPU overhead. In my experience, it's been unbelievably stable and efficient. 99% of the configuration you'd ever need to do is possible through cherokee-admin, which is a nice touch too. :)

Thanks for the feedback. The list above is what I have personally read and recommend and although those 2 suggestions are on my list, I haven't read them. However I have heard so much about the two you have suggested, I've added them at the bottom for the benefit of the next reader.

There are two that I'd recommend for this list. Martin Fowler's Refactoring, Improving the Design of Existing Code and, on a similar vein, Working Effectively with Legacy Code by Michael Feathers.

Two books that remind us that programming isn't just about green field projects.

Hi Craig
I have managed to install and configure Cherokee as my web server, and let me tell you it is a dream.
Even with alot of users online my site is really fast.
It didnt take long to configure or setup but and the rewards are brilliant.

I do recommend using Cherokee as an alternative to Apache.
